Joseph Mooney is a Research and Evaluation Project Worker with Barnardos Ireland. He is also a professional qualified and CORU registered Social Worker. Joseph attained a First Class honours Master Degree in Social Work from the National University of Ireland, Galway in May 2013. Prior to this Joseph attained an honours LLB Degree in Irish Law from Griffith College Dublin (Nottingham Trent University) in 2005 and subsequently worked at Ensor O’Connor, Solicitors, one of the largest law firms in the South East of Ireland. This firm acted as Sole Agent for the Health Service Executive South Eastern Region in Child Protection, Mental Health and Employment Law. Joseph is highly active in the area of Child Protection and Welfare research. He has spent the past seven years researching the area of Irish policies concerning Retrospective Disclosures of Childhood Sexual Abuse and has presented his work to National, International and Community and Practice-Based audiences. Joseph lectures to both Undergraduate and Postgraduate students in the areas of Social Work Practice, Child Protection, Law, Human Rights and Child Sexual Abuse. Joseph is a doctoral researcher at the UNESCO Child and Family Research Centre under the supervision of Professor Caroline McGregor (Skehill) who is course director of the Master in Social Work program at NUI Galway and Senior Research Fellow at the UNESCO Child and Family Research Centre. Joseph has also worked as a Duty Social Worker with the Child and Family Agency, Tusla.
