Report from the evaluation of the Early Childhood Care and Education Programme of the Childhood Development Initiative. This document reports the findings from the baseline, mid-phase and end phase of the evaluation of the Early Childhood Care and Education Programme, for the whole sample of children, parents and childcare services .

The Early Childhood Care and Education Programme was a 2-year programme targeted at children and their families in Tallaght West. The evaluation of this programme was designed as a cluster randomised trial, an experimental method by which social units or clusters (in this case, Early Years services) were randomly allocated to intervention or control groups.

Research data from this evaluation will be archived in June 2017 in the Irish Social Science Data Archive. See the below links for more on this.  See also the Ten Years of Learning report by the Centre for Effective Services for the broader context of Prevention and Early Intervention across the island of Ireland. The Early Childhood Care and Education Programme and evaluation was funded as part of The Atlantic Philanthropies’ Prevention and Early Intervention Initiative (PEII).
