The Children's Research Network for Ireland and Northern Ireland aims to:

Support the research community in Ireland and Northern Ireland to better understand and improve the lives of children and young people, by creating and maintaining an inclusive, independent, non-profit network through which information, knowledge, experience, learning and skills can be shared.

Our objectives are:

  • To create opportunities
  • To support research skill development
  • To develop structures and mechanisms for members

Membership

Membership

The Children's Research Network was launched in December 2010 and is planning a programme of activities for 2011.
Membership is now open to anyone who has involvement in research in child, youth or social research including:

  • Research, practice and policy professionals working in academic, independent, government, and voluntary sector organisations, or in commercial organisations undertaking social or health research
  • Research professionals working independently (e.g. as consultants or sole practitioners)
  • Early career researchers and students at post-graduate level
  • Retired/emeritus researchers

The Children's Research Network runs a number of activities including:

  • A conference on the subject of Researching Children's Outcomes in Ireland and Northern Ireland
  • Master classes
  • Summer school - for early career researchers
  • Seminars/workshops - on specific topics of interest
